Joining a Change Makers Rule Breakers trip to Necker Island was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. Not only did I get to meet and extensively converse with one of the greatest entrepreneurs of all times, Sir Richard Branson, but I also got to meet 30 other young and disruptive entrepreneurs who are shaping the future of markets as well as the world with their ground breaking ideas and actions.

To be part of Change Makers Rule Breakers is a once in a life time opportunity for any entrepreneur who wishes to have an effect on the world and the future in a positive way. The inspiration that is created by prolonged exposure to so many great minds, whilst enjoying the pristine and dreamlike ambience of Necker Island, will last a life time.

If there is one thing in life that an entrepreneur with a vision for a better world should do before he dies, then that is to attend at least one Change Makers Rule Breakers event, whilst the opportunity is there.

I heard about the Change Makers Rule Breakers experience through a friend I trusted. I didn’t fully know what I was going to experience but I went with an open mind. Being part of a very intimate group, sharing big ideas, learning from each other, and truly forming relationships in a non-cookie-cutter networking style was a deeply rewarding experience. Having so many ambitious entrepreneurs and leaders, sharing their struggles, triumphed, lessons, tricks, was simply invigorating. The beauty of the island provided just the right balance, to reset, recharge, and re-inspire. Thank you to everyone involved.

Change Makers Rule Breakers gathering on Necker Island to-date has been the most inspiring and life-changing trip I've ever been on. It's cheesy but true: I still pinch myself, wondering if this all really happened. The island is beyond beautiful, magical, truly. I met incredible entrepreneurs and still can't believe how much quality time I got with Sir Richard Branson himself. I can't wait to go back!

In 1996 I completed high school, and to be honest, was completely uncertain about what the future held for me. Having not done very well since day one at school, the one thing I did know was that I wouldn’t be joining the rest of my mates at university, but rather, would continue working as I had done since my first job at age 10. I also knew something else though – I knew that there was something inside me that was creative, a passion for making things happen, and a desire to be successful … whatever that meant.

In 1998 Richard Branson published his book “Losing My Virginity” and it happened to be the first book I ever read. It changed my life forever. For the first time in my life I realised that everyone has the potential to achieve, but only few are prepared to give what it takes to make it happen. I chose to be one of those, following Richards inspiring story.

In 2000 I opened my first business, and within 3 years had made my first million dollars. I was just 24 years old at this point, and my journey in business was well and truly started and continues to this very day – it is my passion, my love. And it all began from a book, written by an amazing man, Sir Richard Branson. I often wondered what it would be like to meet him.

In 2014 the opportunity arrived. I was invited along to visit Richards personal home on Necker Island by Billy and Fiona Chalk.

My experience there was surreal. Firstly, the physical beauty of the island can only be appreciated in person – it is beyond spectacular. And then there are the people, from the best hosts in the world, Bill and Fiona, through to the amazing Necker staff, the whole experience is by far the best thing I’ve ever done. It was so good I felt guilt my wife wasn’t there with me, and very quickly called her and promised I’d bring her there too!

To meet Richard in person was a wonderful experience, as was meeting the other attendees. The only part I didn’t enjoy was leaving – I could have stayed forever.

And finally, on the speedboat back to the airport I ended up chatting with one of the other attendees – what resulted was me bringing another brand to Australia that I am absolutely loving. I have also since sent a number of my friends along to Necker, and each of them have all had the same life changing experiences.

Thank you Billy and Fiona, and thank you Sir Richard Branson for being the catalyst for change that now sees me have a life I truly love – you are an inspiration for so many in our world!

I feel like the Change Makers Rule Breakers Necker Island gathering is an experience of a lifetime.  To be on an absolutely stunning island with an incredible staff looking after you and to be connecting and learning from entrepreneurs who are inspired to make a difference in the world is indescribable.  For me I left the island with newfound inspiration on how I can make a meaningful contribution.

The Change Makers Rule Breakers trip to Necker Island was a transformative experience! From breakfast 'till the wee hours of the morning, the trip was packed with inspiration, perspiration, insight and wild flora and fauna.
